libverto or libevent don't provide integration for talloc, which is one of the key features of libtevent.
At the very least you would need a wrapper layer in libldb and sssd around libevent or libverto. Samba 4/OpenChange/Evolution-mapi (in universe) also rely on tevent and the fact that libldb uses it.
