I've noticed this too, though I didn't realize it was resulting from
replacing a word w/ a different number of letters.
I just tested to make sure it was a texmaker bug, and it appears to be.
I used the above example string ("The quick foxx jumped over the lazey
dog") and put it in a test file, then ran 'aspell -c testfile'. Aspell
replaced the words correctly. I then pasted the string in a new
document in texmaker, ran the spell check, and ended up with lazey
replaced by llazy as noted in the original bug report.
