No. Different completely. It seems that in Xubuntu 11.04(don't know
about earlier versions) not able to talk/record unless using external
microphone. When in Skype I can use an external microphone and hear
myself on the Sound Test. But if using web camera microphone I'm unable
to hear myself on the Sound Test in Skype. Same thing happens when using
Sound Recorder. I must plug in an external microphone to record, unable
to use the web camera microphone. Whereas in Lucid, I can use the web
camera microphone in Skype, sound recorder etc. I can hear sounds fine
when listening in Skype, and other media. Just unable to talk and hear
myself without using an external microphone, hence the title of the
question. Was reading in the Xubuntu help section and it mentions about
using external microphone when recording. If that is needed to be done
in all aspects of talking when using Xubuntu then they should put a
warning in the description of Xubuntu on the site so people will be
aware of the fact instead of letting them search all over the place
looking for fixes like I've been doing. Just common courtesy to do so.
