Just to provde an update: We are working on a sane solution for this in PackageKit 0.7.2, which will be present in Ubuntu Precise as soon as it is released. For some reason this issue is Ubuntu-specific and does not appear on Debian or Fedora. If you want to get PK working again very soon, you can do the workaround I described above. Regards, Matthias
