Public bug reported:

Samsung Q35 Red, Ubuntu Feisty.
82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (Intel)

On installing Feisty, the sound worked but with a high-pitched squeal in
the background. So, I added the following line to the end of the alsa-
base file:

options snd-hda-intel index=0 single_cmd=1 model=laptop-eapd

(I found this solution online when I was running Edgy and had the same
problem.)

This solved the squeal problem.

Now, though, on boot, the sound works until I try to adjust the volume
using the volume control keys on the keyboard (eg Fn + Left Arrow). I
don't know what happens if I try adjusting the volume using the mouse
but I can if that would help.

dmesg does not report anything.
