byobu 5.0 uses tmux as its backed, but it only recommends it and it
still depends on screen.
Depends: ${misc:Depends}, debconf (>= 0.5) | debconf-2.0, screen, gettext-base,
python, python-newt (>= 0.52.2-11)
Recommends: tmux (>= 1.5)
That should get swapped around, or maybe depend on tmux | screen
