For all intents and purposes, bonding is now supported by NM (http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/log/?qt=grep&q=bonding). However, only the backend supports it, there is no way to configure it from the applet (you'll need to write the config files manually, and there is little instructions yet).
