I do not know for the wifi part, but using a webcam on a multicore system (here a i7 980X) with any of cheese, gmail+ video plugins in mozilla, or even skype, ends up with first some locking in the video+audio/application then a full system crash. It's rather "random": can happen after a few seconds of visio-call or after a fifteen or more minutes.
It does not happen on true monocore system (here a old AMD 3500+). Looks like the webcam driver (if any) has a concurrency issue with something in the kernel. It might ends up corrupting the wifi part in the way to the total destruction of the kernel data. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/730404 Title: wifi and webcam drivers crashed completely in normal use apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/730404/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
