Having the same issue with the internal USB 3.0 port not working on my Asus G53SW. lsusb reports:

Integrated Rate Matching Hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub I get the same time-out issue when plugging a device into the port. I figured I would report this, since it is a different controller chipset then has been reported so far. This is the first bug report I have done, so if any more information is needed from me, please let me know.
