Public bug reported:

used disk i created from online, tapped top of area above dvd durring
installation after custome setup. Happend very soon after start of installation
durring a very slow install process.
I used an ubuntu install disk i made for the Offical page according to the
website i went to - a large orange button download. I made the ISO and then put
it into my computer and launched from it. I did a disk check after that on a
second launch, which turned up no problems. p and I then tried a few times to
download ubuntu from the DVD, but it was taking so long I thought there was an
issue, till i left it running for about 2 hours and came back and found it
working. repeated that when i made a mistake, and then i got to the point where
i chose custom and I created my partitions, and gave a boot when asked. it then
started doing whatever it was when i hit install, and then I moved the computer
very gently and whiel i trouched the top of the cd area it said it crashed.
Sorry for all the detail, I hope it helps!
