Total hang as in no response to mouse clicks, but not crash.
Did ctrl-alt-f1 and sudo reboot to get out of the little frozen situation.

When exactly did user interface freeze?
Activities > Click on "Type to search..." > Pressed rapidly in
succession letters "syn" of which only "s" appeared
