I am having a similar problem. Listening to music using Banshee increases power consumption in my laptop (HP Envy 14) around 6W. Stopping the music, brings power consumption to normal levels.
I understand that listening to music uses CPU resources, and increases power consumption, but it seems too much. Restarting pulseaudio does not solve the problem for me. Could be related to this?
