Hi Alan, Are you able to test video/audio playback out your DisplayPort/HDMI connection and see how the audio behaves?
In any case, could you try the following: Add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 Save, and reboot, and try playing video again.
