I am sorry that nobody responded to this report for so long. If I
understand you correctly, your whole system locked up, which points to
either a kernel bug or hardware malfunction. Since 8.04 reached end of
life a long time ago, and this likely is not actually a bug in gparted I
am closing this report. If you still have an issues with current
hardware/software, please update this report and set the status back to
new.
