I have encountered the same problem immediately upon rebooting after upgrading
to Oneiric. Here is my /etc/network/interfaces file, which is has NOT CHANGED
since upgrading from Natty to Oneiric:

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
address 127.0.0.1
netmask 255.0.0.0
# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Apparently something in the init scripts has changed and is forcing either the
"auto eth0" or the dhcp line to wait a LONG time for an address. This is a
horrible regression from Natty.
