Agreed, this is really far from ideal.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to debug this issue without
additional information. Please attach the following information to this
bug report:
- /etc/X11/xorg.conf
- /var/log/Xorg.0.log
- output of "ps auwwwx", when your X process is already using a reasonable
amount of memory
- output of /proc/<pid>/maps
- output of '/bin/ls -l /proc/<pid>/fd/'
where <pid> is the process of the running X. (this can be obtained via
"ps auwx | grep X")
