Also, if you wish to try the open-source radeon driver on a later version of Ubuntu, here are a few notes: 1) The graphical performance of your Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series chip should be good on Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" and later versions. 2) HDMI audio support for Radeon HD 5000 "Evergreen" hardware is scheduled for inclusion in the upcoming upstream linux kernel 3.3. 3) HDMI audio on previous generations of Radeon hardware has been disabled by default in recent kernel versions, as it causes blank screens on a lot of systems. If this remains the case for Evergreen in kernel 3.3 you can re-enable HDMI audio by adding "radeon.audio=1" to your GRUB boot options. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/567649 Title: No sounds output through HDMI interface To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/567649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
