I'm using Kubuntu 11.10 on an Acer Aspire D257. I have the same problem as Romano.
1 Open digikam 2 Select a photo 3 Open image editor 4 Edit and save 5 Close image editor 6 Select another photo 7 Open image editor At this point the edit menu items have gone.
