In my case, Compiz is using 82 MB (due to 7-8 windows being open at the
same time), Unity-panel-service is using 19 MB and unity-window-
decorator is using 4 MB. So the total is slightly above 100 MB, but it's
not bad at all. Especially considering the fact that the GNOME2 desktop
with Compiz consumed nearly the same amount of memory.

Of course, Compiz can be optimized more, but calling unity being "heavy,
slow" would be somewhat inappropriate.
