Going over my bugreport I noticed that this one is still open.
I close it now because update-notifier is working as exptected (checking
for the "admin" group). If you have a locally modified setup that is
something that u-n can not detect. If your change is generic enough I
can add a additional check in update-notifier for that, please describe
what you did to prevent julie from becoming root (did you edited
/etc/sudoers?).
