There are still problems left with USB->parallel adapter cables, for the
case if the cable does not provide a device URI at all. This is fixed in
Precise (12.04) now and an update for Oneiric (11.10) is made available
for testing. See bug 910272. Please test the package and report your
results there, especially if the fixes presented in this bug do not
solve your problem. Thanks.
