Duplicated on two fresh installs.

When trying to apply updates after the first reboot. Muon package
manager locked up at 55%, had to kill the process.

Workaround:

sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list "or use the text editor of your preference to
edit the file"
   uncomment these two lines
   # deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu oneiric partner
   # deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu oneiric partner

  sudo dpkg --configure -a
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo update-apt-xapian-index
