Thanks for taking the time to test.  So far it appears the regression
was introduced in one of the v3.1 release candidates.  You confirmed
that rc2 does not have the bug, and the final version of v3.1 does have
the bug.

Would it be possible for you to test some of the v3.1 release candidates(rc3 -> 
rc10) on the following page:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

It may be quicker to skip release candidates to find the bad version
faster.  For example, we know that rc2 is good, so maybe test rc4.  If
it is good test rc6.  Once you find an rc that is bad, you can then test
the prior rc.

If we can identify which rc introduced the regression, I can bisect that
version and identify the exact commit.
