Here is what pitfdll provides
dshowdec_ir50_32v5: DS ir50_32 decoder version 5
  dmodec_wmv9dmodv3: DMO wmv9dmod decoder version 3
dmodec_wmvdmodv1: DMO wmvdmod decoder version 1
dmodec_wmvdmodv2: DMO wmvdmod decoder version 2
dmodec_wmvdmodv3: DMO wmvdmod decoder version 3
dmodec_wmadmodv1: DMO wmadmod decoder version 1
dmodec_wmadmodv2: DMO wmadmod decoder version 2
dmodec_wmadmodv3: DMO wmadmod decoder version 3
dmodec_wmspdmodv1: DMO wmspdmod decoder version 1
 dshowdec_ir41_32v4: DS ir41_32 decoder version 4
  qtadec_bin: quicktime binary audio decoder

All but the last two are definitely provided by the gst ffmpeg plugin,
not sure about Indeo4 & the qta

$ gst-inspect plugin ffmpeg |grep wma
ffenc_wmav1: FFmpeg Windows Media Audio 1 encoder
ffenc_wmav2: FFmpeg Windows Media Audio 2 encoder
ffdec_wmapro: FFmpeg Windows Media Audio 9 Professional decoder
ffdec_wmav1: FFmpeg Windows Media Audio 1 decoder
ffdec_wmav2: FFmpeg Windows Media Audio 2 decoder
ffdec_wmavoice: FFmpeg Windows Media Audio Voice decoder

gst-inspect plugin ffmpeg |grep indeo
ffdec_indeo2: FFmpeg Intel Indeo 2 decoder
ffdec_indeo3: FFmpeg Intel Indeo 3 decoder
ffdec_indeo5: FFmpeg Intel Indeo Video Interactive 5 decoder

Note that this bug was filed during 10.10 dev

The current state of pitfdll in 11.10
If it is installed it currently can prevent playback of wmas, with it not
installed then gst will use ffmpeg to properly decode thru wmavoice

The current state of pitfdll in 12.04
non-functional, "gst-inspect plugin pitfdll" returns 0 elements

So at this point your choice as to whether include as a dep, keeping in
mind that 32 bit users are free to install w32codecs & the pitfdll
package, as are they free to uninstall the pitfdll package...
