I have changed to Mint.

I had been with Ubuntu for 4 years and have been very happy up to and
including 10.04. I have tried upgrading to successive versions, but
always downgraded to 10.04 because of (extreme)slowness, problems with
sound & video and the intrusive, slow, unresponsive and
user-unfriendly dashboard.

I found 12.04 around 3 times slower than 10.04 for just about
everything - including boot-up and starting applications. The video
was bad and I had no sound(it did not recognise my speakers or
microphone).

As I have seen answers to posts like these saying, "Just because it
doesn't work on your old laptop........", I would just like to say
that I am working on a brand new computer(4 weeks old) with 4gb ram,
1000gb hdd and intel core i3 - I got rid of my old laptop!

Please take this as constructive criticism, and not a rant. As I said
before, I had been with Ubuntu for 4 years and loved it. I went with
Mint because they are very similar to Ubuntu.

Regards
Colin
