This is a recent, fresh install so I have no earlier versions to compare
this to.

$ uname -a
Linux g4 3.2.0-10-powerpc #17-Ubuntu Thu Jan 19 20:24:11 UTC 2012 ppc ppc ppc 
GNU/Linux

As mentioned in the other bug, the mainline kernels seem only available
to x86 users.  If there is another site to get the PPC kernels, let me
know and I can try it.
