OS: Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty Fawn" - amd64
Box: Shuttle SN25P, AMD4200X2
Video: Sapphire X800XL
Monitor: 10+ year old generic 17" CRT

I had the same problems of crash, monitor off, flashing keyboard LEDs. I
applied the suggested changes:
/boot/grub/menu.lst  -> VGA=792
/etc/usplash.cof
  xres=1024
  yres=768
and yes, it works now. Thanks. But surely a sensible default screen resolution
should be maintained until some sensible stage. My monitor cannot handle the
1600x1200 resolution that the login screen appears to use. Can someone kindly
indicate how to change the resolution of the login screen.

Stephen
