Why should it matter if it's obscuring the search field? You usually
have to put the mouse in the search field to begin typing, and that
makes the message go translucent, allowing you to see the field.
Besides, where it is now has a greater chance of covering content than
the toolbar, and the content is what's most interesting.

A close button might also solve that problem, but that's a different
conversation altogether.
