Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20
Feisty 32-bit (and 64-bit) on Sony Vaio VGN-FE41Z. The screen backlight is not turned on after suspend/resume. Suspend to RAM or disk has the same result. I've been doing a variety of tests trying to narrow down the cause. I've tried almost all permutations of /etc/default/acpi-support options. I've tried all combinations of the suspend-0.5 package's s2ram tests as detailed at: http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram I've disabled gdm from starting in runlevel 2 so that I can isolate xorg from the mix. The laptop has linux-restricted-modules for the nvidia (1.0-7184) and ipw3945. Using the Debugging Kernel Suspend guide at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend It captured the magic number 7:801:517, but unfortunately there is no associated hash match so I'm not sure how useful it is. I blacklist-ed nvidia and ipw3945 and tried again. This time it reported: Magic number: 0:798:714 hash matches drivers/base/power/resume.c:46 I'm installing the kernel sources right now, and will follow up on this later. I'll also selectively remove the blacklist-ed entries and see if I can prove that nvidia or ipw3945 is responsible for the 7:801:517 magic number. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Resume failure: Feisty + Sony Vaio VGN-FE41Z https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
