Yes, the NoTrapSignal make the X server dump a core file, instead of just printing its own backtrace in the log. After changing sources.list, you must run "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core-dbgsym". The dgbsym package adds debugging information to the X server. After you have restarted X and it crashes, you run the gdb commands to produce the crash log, using the core file that it dumped.
