There are a couple of commits in the upstream 3.0.18 kernel which might
fix this. From the changelog:
commit a92035b63540e2d47326540dc38625283143b770
Author: Marek Vasut

This is just a renaming of USB_DEVICE_ID_DWAV_EGALAX_MULTITOUCH{N}

Otherwise you might need the upcoming Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise Pangolin".
In addition to the 3.2.x kernel (which I'm assuming contains these
patches) it has xserver 1.11 with all of the new X Input 2.2 framework
backported from the upcoming xserver 1.12. X Input 2.2 contains a much
improved multitouch system.
