For the handling of color profiles "colord"[1] is used in Lubuntu. But
there is no graphical software to control it and for example create a
monitor device and add a profile to it.

In gnome there is "gnome color manager" (gcm)[2] for handling color
profiles. It does a little bit more, like supporting the process of
calibrating your monitor. But gcm has quite a lot of gnome dependencies
to function, so I don't like to install it.

As far as I understood it colord has all the functionality I would like
to use. You can use colord via command line or via dbus. So a small gui
app, calling the right dbus commands seems to be enough. :)
