Public bug reported:

i have installed ubutu 11.10 x64 on amy laptopt for a few months ,
suddenly (i cannot remember a particular action i did ), i could not hear
anymore the sound coming out from the internal speaker of my laptop hp probook
4720s

it seems that the sound settings application cannot remember the default audio
output to the internal audio.
instead it stays on manhattan hdmi audio (mobility radeon hd 5000 series)
after each reboot i have to select internal audio and do a test speakers to
hear sounds from the internal speaker.
and then the sound is working on every applications
