@Seb, the bug in upstream was definitely clearer, I should have updated
this description afterwards.

Btw, it looks like it was an upstream issue and has been fixed with:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-themes-
standard/commit/?id=c56984c0f16d40da119bde328bd57a56a819c7ba

Who will be able to check this?

** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New

** Description changed:

- It currently uses:
/usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/background/display-base.png
- and this as overlay:
/usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/background/display-overlay.png
+ From this screen:
+ http://blog.didrocks.fr/public/ubuntu/gnome_control_center_unity1.png looks
+ like the background of the monitor image is not properly transparent.
+
+ It currently uses:
+ /usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/background/display-base.png
+ and this as overlay:
+ /usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/background/display-overlay.png

As a matter of fact the assets seem transparent. What is causing the
  issue?
