The problem is that the printer setup tools currently in Ubuntu are not
prepared for printer auto-installation, as they cannot check whether
there is already a print queue for the newly connected printer.

printerdrake
(https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/printerdrake) has such a
feature and so it is highly recommended to switch to printerdrake in
Gutsy.
