Binary package hint: kate
This happens in Kate 3.5.6 that can be used for Ubuntu Feisty and Edgy.
To reproduce the problem:
1) goto "Settings-->Configure Kate"
2) goto "Editor-->Editing", and disable "Show tabulators"
3) goto "Indentation". Auto indentation does not work no matter how it is
configured.
But if you select "Show tabulators" in Step (2), the auto indentation
will work.
