I'm running on Apodio 8, which seems to be Ubuntu 10.04, I'm new. I have solved my problem by downloading the Realtek HD Audio driver, "High Definition Audio Codec" from here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ High Definition Audio Codecs > Linux Driver (2.6) As though I have to admit it was a confusing installation process (as I got error messages at the end of the first installation process): Ran the automatic ./install as admin, got a message about wrong folders etc. at the end (maybe because of a difference between Linux/Ubuntu?) So I uninstalled Alsa, reinstalled current alsa-base, compiled source code of above Linux driver, but finished after "make" and did not execute "make install". Don't know if these are important steps, though. Anyways, I now have different/new sliders in the Gnome Alsa Mixer they are called Capture, Capture, Internal, Internal. They correspond to the input volume of the red MIC Jack, but also creating UNUSABLE absolute dangerous feedback noise if not set properly. 1. Unzip to folder of your will 2. Readme.txt ->ALC272 supported! 3. Automatic Install (move to folder via terminal, type sudo ./install) 4. Error messages about wrong folders... (Linux/Ubuntu difference?) 5. Uninstall Alsa via terminal 6. Reinstall Alsa-base 7. Compiled source code of downloaded alsa-driver-1.0.24. etc 8. Terminal "make" 9. Reboot 10. Adjust sliders ! I've made these experiences on Vista too, where the HD audio codec / the corresponding software would be the key to access much more detailed functions of the soundcard. Good luck! ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Invalid ** Converted to question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/186473 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/689376 Title: [Realtek ALC272] Recording problem.
