The install log shows:

Aborting downgrade from (at least) 5.5 to 5.1.
If are sure you want to downgrade to 5.1, remove the file
/var/lib/mysql/debian-*.flag and try installing again.

If you previously had 5.5 installed and really want to do this, then
please go ahead and remove the file per the message.

I'll mark this bug invalid assuming that was the case, but if not, if
something else is going on, please let us know by replying to this email
and we'll re-open.
