Thanks Ludovic for the quick reply & pointer. I  Will recompile the
source to keep the card powered on.

However that might explain (?) the VirtualBox scenario, not the VMware
one (the card is powered on / LED is green -- it's even flashing yellow
signaling something is actually read from the card when the device is
inserted).  Not sure I made it clear above, but in the VMware case I
left the "pcscd" logging on for quite a while before I killed pcsd /
device was removed from guest / etc etc..

Anyway, I'll pull the source and try to recompile with "#define
DISABLE_ON_DEMAND_POWER_ON" and report back.
