Thanks. Just for info, I got an error while following your howto:

dpkg-source: error: file cupsys_1.2.11-2ubuntu1.diff.gz has size 488880
instead of expected 115859
I found out that cupsys_1.2.11-2ubuntu1.diff.gz from your link is not
really compressed, so i gzipped it, but afterwards it had a different
size and md5sum. After changing the dsc file the dpkg-source command
succeeded.
Also, I needed to install fakeroot (not mentioned in the howto), which
was not there and this made dpkg-buildpackage fail.
But finally, now I have version 1.2.11-2ubuntu1. Thanks a lot.
