Public bug reported:

After installation Ubuntu 12.04 Precise on VIA architecture (xserver-
xorg-video-openchrome driver, without DRI support and software rendering
- "swrast"), the default Shell interface is Unity. It is works terribly
slow, and there is display glitches (windows do not disappear, and
shadow is staying on desktop).

On the same machine with Ubuntu 11.10, the default SHell interface was
Unity-2d (unity is not work at all).

Workaround:
Till the new xserver-xorg-video-openchrome driver is released (or unity will be
fixed), I suggest to make Unity-2d, default shell interface for
xserver-xorg-video-openchrome drivers.
