Jonathan, I am so sorry for not replying back to you. I was wrapped up in a project for weeks now and we just finished. Seems your research and working the bug confirmed my thoughts it was unity only and not Gnome etc. I will next time not supply a bug unless I know I can answer you back. But looks like in time it will be fixed.
