It took Mozilla 8 (verbal: E-I-G-H-T!) years to fix it. Fixing TNEF attachments in Thunderbird is another sad example for time-consuming bugs and hence is still not fixed. Maybe fixing proxy resolution will get fixed soon, too?! :)
