** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xsane

This is a carry-forward from the scanner problem in Feisty (see bug#
86022). I have heard that this was fixed upstream & have talked to
- people on sane-developer-list. This problem seems to be specific to
- Ubuntu & the way the USB_SUSPEND is compiled in the kernel. There seems
- to be the start of quite a bit of friction about this & I really would
- like to use my scanners at some time in the future. I do know that
- Gerhard Jaeger from Sane-list compiled a kernel without the USB_SUSPEND
- & has good scanner operation in his Ubuntu install.
+ people on sane-developer-list about this. The problem seems to be
+ specific to Ubuntu & the way the USB_SUSPEND is compiled in the kernel.
+ I really would like to use my scanners at some time in the future & want
+ to use a "stock" kernel to do so. I do know that Gerhard Jaeger from
+ Sane-list compiled a kernel without the USB_SUSPEND & has good scanner
+ operation in his Ubuntu install. I remember in the past that there were
+ several different kernels available---would it be so much of a issue to
+ have a suspend & non-suspend "flavor"???

I know that laptop suspend is a priorty, but I do not think that loosing
a important functionallty for desktops (including the business sector)
  should be over-looked.
