Public bug reported:

the pollution glyph is invisible on the map.
it is reported by the message log, and affects global warming, but it is not 
visible on the map.
you can try editing the map using "ctrl-e" and placing pollution on a cell; the 
cell remains clean.
I use hex2t tiles.
