I am marking this as Invalid, as in the latest releases of Ubuntu (Oneiric and
Precise) when closing the Software sources dialog, it does not request
reloading, thus it will not have any problems if there is a lock. I have tried
by opening Synaptic (to create the lock) and software sources from Software
center, and I have successfully edited the sources list, and closed the dialog
without any complaints about the lock. Feel free to reopen if you still
experience this problem, and please detail the steps you used to reproduce the
issue.
