** Description changed: When changing the brightness on my Dell XPS 14" some incremental states of brightness are broken(leave the screen brightness completely off, and i cant see at all) on mine there are 16 states, the first 9 work then 10,11,12,13 are broken 14 works , and 15,16 are broken. (these numbers are going from max brightness going down so 1=max brightness) This is extremely inconvenient for me, I cannot set the screen to dim in power savings because of this, and even worse in 11.10 because so far i don't see an option to turn that off at all in settings. I am using the Nvidia binaries if that is important. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. + ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 + Architecture: amd64 + ArecordDevices: + **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC665 Analog [ALC665 Analog] + Subdevices: 1/1 + Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC1: michael 1889 F.... pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: michael 1889 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xfbd00000 irq 49' + Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC665' + Components : 'HDA:10ec0665,10280468,00100003' + Controls : 23 + Simple ctrls : 12 + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'NVidia'/'HDA NVidia at 0xfb080000 irq 17' + Mixer name : 'Nvidia GPU 14 HDMI/DP' + Components : 'HDA:10de0014,10de0101,00100100' + Controls : 16 + Simple ctrls : 4 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) + MachineType: Dell Inc.
