I'm sorry I haven't gotten a more reliable way to reproduce the bug.
Sometimes, when I open the VPN submenu of the network indicator, it has
a light background, and sometimes it has the same color as its parent
menu. It seems to have the light background most often shortly after a
change in state from connected to VPN to not connected.
