$ apt-cache policy libboost-dev
libboost-dev:
Installed: 1.42.0.1ubuntu1
Candidate: 1.46.1.1
Version table:
1.46.1.1 0
500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages
*** 1.42.0.1ubuntu1 0
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
And the issue persists.
Note that this report is about the user interface of UpdateManager. Even
assuming there is a good reason why the updates of some packages are
kept back, showing checkboxes that cannot be checked without giving any
information about why they can't be checked doesn't make any sense and
is what this report is about. If you click on a checkbox and it doesn't
get selected, some sort of popup should appear saying "this item cannot
be selected for this and that reason".
Another story is why apt-get does not update these package in the first
place, which I'd love to figure out but may be the expected behavior for
a good reason (though I'd expect it to tell me WHY the given packages
are being "kept back").
