I have uninstalled and installed Italian again, but this time I have watched at
the installation messages.
if this can help, I can say you that, when generating locales, this error
message is displayed:

it_CH.UTF-8... cannot open locale definition file 'de_CH': No such file or
directory
failed
it_IT.UTF-8...
